So very sorry to get the news! Lake life will never be quite the same. Gull Lakers have lost one of their greatest. Always looked forward to the start of the season when Ken would come through the pathway between our cottages to say hello! He could always be depended upon for help and suggestions at the Lake. Ken also hosted and helped with so many Lake events. Memories of the infamous "croquet" tournament come to mind along with Ken "modeling" period swimwear for the village's 75th anniversary celebrations. And of course the annual village BBQs. Following in his father's footsteps as the mayor of the village of Gull Lake was simply the way things were meant to be. Of course that meant that all of us at Rest Haven got to boast for years about living next door to the Mayor!!
On a ski trip to Fernie weaving our way through a very crowded parking lot, we finally found a space. As we parked the "SLICK" license plate was spotted on the car across from us! I immediately set out to find Ken and say hello!! Had a great visit and joked about how I knew he was there.
Our Mothers were tremendous friends. They could so often be found on the back deck of the Stuart cottage having a wonderful visit.
He will truly be missed along with so many long time Lakers that have gone before him. Rod, Bruce and Bob now have him with them. Oh the secrets and tales they could tell!!!
My thoughts are with you all at this trying time.

I worked with Ken for many years at Amoco. I have so many memories especially the Amoco ski trips that Ken always organized, Flames games, and just hanging out at work. Ken was always in a good mood and a fun guy to know. My condolences to his family.
My sincere condolences go to Ken's family. I worked at Amoco and dealt with Ken many times. He was always a joy to work with and I and truly saddened at his passing. He always seemed to me like he would go on for ever. Millie Tsuji (nee Drinkwater).
Daryn, Sarah & family.
Mike & I have so many wonderful memories of our long friendship with Ken. He and Mike met in Ottawa at the CCD in 1974. We all found ourselves living in Alberta , Ken returning to his loved Calgary & Mike & I as transplanted Maritimers.
After returning to Nova Scotia we maintained that friendship for over 40 years! Annual Christmas Greetings, and the New Years Eve phone call. There were a number of memorable in person visits in Alberta and Nova Scotia. They increased when Sarah decided to attend Acadia University . We were honoured to have you and Ken make the trip to NS to attend our daughters wedding & spend quality time visiting afterwards.
In spite of failing health when we visited in 2019 he continued to be the ultimate good host . He guided us around the city pointing our the changes & some of his favourite haunts. Then it was off to Gull Lake & the family cabin where we relived old times.

Our condolences to Daryn and the family on the passing of Ken. Ken was one of those I would call just a genuine good person. Through the early days of the progress club - working and playing hard - he was so much fun to be around. To those who did so much to care for him when he needed it most - Daryn especially - I am sure he is looking down on all of you with great amounts of gratitude.
Ken and I first met as Students at Mount Royal College in downtown Calgary in 1968. Our lives pasted until the Canadian Progress Club became a product of our shared service to the Community . We shared many a joyful moments, friendship and the love of life.
Please accept Frances and I, deepest sympathy and heartfelt thoughts as the Family deals with the passing of Ken . To Daryn and Family please accept our prayers of hope and sincere condolences.
Ken was a gentlemen. Rest in Peace.
Frances & James
Ken was honestly one of the warmest, happiest people I’ve ever had the privilege of meeting. Daryn was so clearly the light of his life and he the light of hers. I only had the privilege of knowing Ken for the last few years of his life but he made a special impression on me with every interaction. Sending much love to Daryn and the family
I am so sorry to hear this news Daryn. Sending a virtual hug your way and if there is anything I can do, please let me know.
Sorry to hear of Ken passing away, my condolences to Daryn and Sarah as he was great to both.
I consider Ken to be the most passionate, caring, loving man who had intelligence and integrity beyond measure. The thing I shall hang on to was his total love and devotion always for Daryn. Very proud to be one of his many friends.
Much love sent to Daryn and her family in this time of grief. I continue to be inspired by your love and devotion to Ken and ensuring his wishes were honoured. You are an exemplary wife, friend, mother and grandmother. Ken knew he hit the jackpot when he married you. My deepest condolences.
