Obituary of Isaac Andrew Viher JOHANSEN

Isaac Johansen of Calgary, AB, passed away on Wednesday, July 14, 2021 at the age of 19 years.

There is no reason for these things, no sense and no filling the emptiness he has left for all who were blessed to have known him.  Isaac’s most beautiful qualities he possessed was his ability to create fun and enjoyment out of any situation and have everyone around him feel important, cared about, and special. He graduated in 2020 from Ernest Manning High School and moved to the University of Lethbridge to play with the Prairie Baseball Academy. He previously played with the Calgary Junior Dino’s. He excelled in everything he put his mind to, especially where he was setting goals like making the MLB, playing piano, and getting his Economics degree. Being part of the baseball community was a source of joy for him and he radiated that enjoyment of the game by being a positive, hard working, motivating influence to those he trained and played with. 

He is loved by his father Dan Johansen, mother Katherine Viher, two brothers, Roman and Ian; stepfather Garth, and his one truest love Chloe. He is also loved by his godfather Darryl, many aunts, uncles, and cousins; and his Granpy Edward. He had so many wonderful friends. Thank you for these friendships. Isaac was predeceased by his Granny Valetta Johansen and Grandparents Lucy and Rudy Viher.

The world has lost the most beautiful of souls and the purest of hearts. Love you Buddy! Until we meet again!

A Celebration of Isaac’s Life will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Park Memorial, 5008 Elbow Drive SW, Calgary, AB) on Monday, August 9, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home. Family and friends who are unable to attend in person are invited to join Isaac’s service streamed live (see below) on the day of the service. For those who are unable to view live, a recording of the service will be posted. Summery and colorful attire is welcome or come in your favourite baseball jersey.  Condolences, memories and photos can also be shared and viewed here.

In living memory of Isaac Johansen, a tree will be planted in the Ann & Sandy Cross Conservation Area by McInnis & Holloway Funeral Homes, Park Memorial, 5008 Elbow Drive SW, Calgary, AB T2S 2L5, Telephone: 403-243-8200.
