Obituary of Katharine Isobel JONES, (Kay)

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Kay on Thursday, July 29, 2021 at the age of 82 years.
Kay was born on June 25, 1939, in Calgary, AB to Gordon and Belle Sharpe, and was a proud Calgarian all her life. Upon graduation from Central Collegiate Institute, Kay began her working career with CHQR Radio. In subsequent years she was employed by the Bank of Montreal and then, until her retirement, by ATCO Frontec. In retirement, she was the President of the Bank of Montreal Pensioners Association, served on the Condo Board of 9800 Horton Rd., and was a valued member of the Haysboro Senior Resources Group. Kay was always thoughtful and caring and was never one to speak unkindly, or to judge others. She loved all animals and fondly referred to them as her "critters". She truly cherished her family and friends.

She was a devoted mother to son Jason, sister and best friend to Barb (Godfrey) and cherished "Auntie Kay" to Shannon (Jaenicke) and Christy (Mory). She was predeceased by her loving partner, Eric Petersen (2011) and her dear brother-in-law, Ian Godfrey (2018).
A Celebration of Kay’s Life will be held at McInnis and Holloway (Fish Creek, 14441 Bannister Road SE, Calgary, AB) on Wednesday, September 8, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. Everyone is invited to the reception in the hospitality center following the service to share stories and memories of our dear Kay. We would like to thank the staff and residents of the Lake Bonavista Retirement Village who, during the past year and a half, have been so very kind and caring.
