Obituary of Vivian Wood

It is with deep sadness that we say goodbye to Vivian Wood, of Calgary, AB, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother on of Calgary, AB, in the early morning on Saturday, September 4, 2021, at the age of 92 years. She passed following her declining health after suffering a stroke in July. 

Vivian was born in Duck Lake, SK, the tenth of thirteen children.  In her later teen years, she moved to Calgary, where she met and fell in love with John. They married and had fifty-four years together until his passing in 2004.  Together, they raised five children, John (Val), Deb, Sherry (Leo), Henry (Brenda) and Shawn. She had eight grandchildren, John, Spencer, Brandon, Carla, Andrea, Elise, Jade and Orren; and twelve great-grandchildren, Jacob, Jenna, Nicole, Matthias, Evelyn, Sierra, Sebastian, Adrianna, Charlotte, Aylah, Morrison and Harmony.  Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her pride and joy.  Vivian was a good cook, and enjoyed sharing meals with family at holiday gatherings and reunions. She enjoyed travelling, with John to his business conventions, and to the various sunny vacation destinations, with Hawaii being her favourite.

Vivian is survived by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as her sister Rita. She was predeceased by her husband John, parents, Tobie and Josephine; siblings, Harris, Eugene, Ernest, Armand, Euclid, Caroline, Eva, Christina, Alma, Marion and Marie.

Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Chapel Of The Bells, 2720 Centre Street North, Calgary, AB), on Tuesday, September 14, 2021 at 1:30 p.m. Graveside Service to follow at Carstairs Cemetery. Family and friends who are unable to attend in person are invited to join Mrs. Wood’s service streamed live (see below) on the day of the service.
