Obituary of Sherry YELLOW OLD WOMAN

(Sipyohkomyakii- Night Calling Woman)
April 15, 1977 – Bassano, Alberta
September 5, 2021 – Calgary, Alberta

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Sherry Yellow Old Woman (Sipyohkomyakii- Night Calling Woman) our beloved partner, mother, daughter, sister, niece, aunt, and cousin. Creator called her home on Sunday, September 5, 2021 at the age of 44 years.

Sherry was born in Bassano, AB, on April 15, 1977. Sherry graduated from Old Sun College with her high school diploma and from Mount Royal University with an Early Childhood Diploma. She loved working with children at the Siksika Day Care and Tsuut’ina Day Care for the last twenty years. Sherry’s greatest moment is when she became a mother. She loved and protected her children fiercely and talked with pride when she spoke of them. She was a nurturing aunt to her nieces and nephews and enjoyed taking them on many leisure outings. She was so proud of her older sister and supported her in every way. She was very close to her mother and shared a special bond as they often spent time together. Sherry had a loving co-parenting relationship with the fathers of her children as they were with her when she left this world peacefully to join her loved ones in Heaven. Sherry loved deeply and cared for all those who were in her life. Because of her generous and giving nature, she would often take food to the homeless and family living in the downtown area of Calgary. Our family and friends (which were numerous) will miss her compassion and presence.

Sherry is survived by her mother Dorothy Harper, her stepfather Dean Many Guns, her children, Taneah (Cedric), Jeremiah (Maggie), Nelson (Nikki), Matthias and Summer; grandson Noah, her sister Pearl (Clinton), nieces and nephews, Shania, Tyisha, Aiyanna, Cree, Tyler, Naiden, Marcus and Dreyton; great-nephew Joe, aunts, Betsy Ann, Jennifer and Linda; Special Uncle Vincent (Vicki), traditional siblings, Marianne, Sam, Terri, Joe, Holly and Buck. She will be greatly missed by the fathers of her children Clarence Wolfleg Jr, Aaron Ayoungman and Trevor Backfat. She is survived by many extended relatives in the Yellow Old Woman, Three Suns, Wright, Mayfield, Winnipeg, Turning Robe, Raw Eater, and Harper families. We apologize for anyone we may have missed. Sherry was predeceased by her father Tyrone Yellow Old Woman, brother Ty Yellow Old Woman and sister-cousin Nicole Yellow Old Woman.
