Obituary of Mary Petronella Elizabeth Dawson

Mary Dawson, beloved wife of Dave Dawson, passed away on Wednesday, September 8, 2021 at the age of 63 years.

Mary was born in Calgary.  She attended Bishop Grandin High School and had volunteered with the Boys and Girls club during her formative years. Mary spent her working career in the retail sales business in the family owned gift store, Treasures and lastly for Sail West Sailboats. She loved to sail, ski, camp, cycle, golf and was a nature lover. She loved her dolphins and wolves. Mary was a long-time member of the Calgary Yacht Club and the Alberta Hobbie Cat fleet. Her love for sailing extended to big boat cruising and racing on the west coast. Mary lived for the annual CYC flotilla on the coast. In recent years, as her mobility became an issue she changed to a land yacht (motorhome) and made multiple trips to the east coast, including stops in Ontario to visit her many relatives on the Dawson side of the family. Mary will be most remembered for her genuine love of people, her sense of humour and bubbly personality.

Besides her loving husband Dave, Mary is survive by her mother Maria Kleinjans of Calgary, stepmother Carol Kleinjans of Edmonton; brother Nick Janissen; as well as and her ever-present companion, Kayah. Mary was predeceased by her father Ted Kleinjans.
