Obituary of Charles Bruce Mellett

Charles Mellett of Calgary, Alberta passed peacefully, after a lengthy illness, on Friday July 9th, 2021 at the age of 67 years.

Charles grew up in Calgary, the fifth child of a family of seven. He along with his parents moved briefly to BC, where he graduated high School from. He returned to Calgary on his own to start a career and a family. He built and ran a consultant company in oil and gas, working throughout Alberta, BC and Saskatchewan until his retirement.

When not on the road for work he enjoyed volunteering with Scouts Canada. In the 90s Charles was injured in a hunting accident, but it did not affect his dedication and was recognized by Scouts Canada with a Medal of Fortitude as well as a Dedication to Scouting Award presented by the Alberta Government.

Chuck enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing and camping with family and friends. In his later years of life he got great joy from spending time with his "rodeo family" on the Rodeo circuit. He sponsored many a Cowboy, Cowgirl, Rodeo Clown and Rodeo.

Left to cherish his memories are his daughter Kelly, son-in law Heath; son Jacob and daughter in-law Amber; and the light of his life his grandson Denton. He is also survived by his wife Cathy; his remaining siblings; and many nieces and nephews.

Charles was predeceased by his parents Percival and Eva; his brothers Jim and Lloyd; and sister Laverne.

A Celebration of Life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Eastside, 5388 Memorial Drive NE, Calgary, AB) on Friday, September 24, 2021 at 2:00 p.m.  Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home. Condolences, memories and photos can also be shared and viewed here. Western or casual attire is requested.
