Obituary of Saraboth Pong Boon

BOON, Saraboth 'Sara' 
December 4, 1976 – Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam
September 25, 2021 – Calgary, Alberta

Sara Boon (nee Chhean), beloved wife of Mike Boon of Calgary, AB, passed away on Saturday, September 25, 2021 at the age of 44 years.

Sara married Mike, her high school sweetheart, and they were thoroughly devoted to each other. Mike was in awe of Sara every single day because of her vibrancy, resourcefulness, creativity and determination. The birth of her two fantastic daughters, Emma and Ashley, ignited a desire for teaching within Sara. This led to a career shift from human resources to kindergarten teacher with the Calgary Catholic School District. She found her calling in the classroom, treating all of her students with love and respect as she instilled in them a passion for education.

Besides her loving husband, Sara is survived by her children, Emma and Ashley; her sister Sam; brother Robert; parents, Sotheavy Yin and Vansoth Chhean; brother-in-law David; mother-in-law Betty; and countless people who came to call Sara a friend and an inspiration over the years. 

Her smile will live on in all our hearts.

Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Fish Creek, 14441 Bannister Road SE, Calgary, AB) on Thursday, September 30, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

A Private Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, October 2, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. by invitation.  Family and friends who are unable to attend in person are invited to join Sara’s service streamed live at https://youtu.be/7bpAGETMPe8 on the day of the service. Because Sara loved to spend time with friends and family, we will hold a celebration of life at a later date.
