Ida Harcsa

Obituary of Ida Harcsa

August 13, 1928 - Neszmely, Hungary
September 26, 2021 - Calgary, Alberta

Ida, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away peacefully with family at her side at the age of 93 years.  She will be lovingly remembered by her family.

Ida left her homeland, Hungary, during the Hungarian Revolution in 1956 with her husband and three sons. They settled and have resided in Calgary since 1957.  Ida enjoyed gardening and loved to cook. Her most valued treasure was her family. She was happiest when the house was full of family. Ida volunteered at the Hungarian Presbyterian Church and senior’s club helping to create traditional Hungarian cuisine and assisting with fundraising events.  Ida was a role model and hero to friends and family.  She was kind, gentle, brilliant, patient, stubborn and strong. She was perhaps the bravest person most people had ever encountered.

Ida is survived by her son Csaba (Lisa), daughters-in-law Alice and Eva Harcsa; grandchildren, Lenke (Nick) Harcsa, Szuzsanna (Trever) Middleton, Emese (Chris) Smith, Peter (Christina) Harcsa, and Ildiko (Peter) Hartmann; great-grandchildren, Anthony, Taylor, James, Michael, Evelyn, Indra and Chander. Ida was predeceased by her loving husband Gyula, and sons, Thomas and Julius Harcsa.

Condolences, memories and photos can also be shared and viewed here.

The family would like to thank the staff of Rivera McKenzie Town for their kindness and amazing care.
