Obituary of Lilian Mirella Romanzin
1936 – 2021
Lilian Romanzin, of Calgary, AB, passed away suddenly on Sunday, October 3, 2021. She will be sadly missed by all her family and friends, but especially her children, Susan (Neil) and Aldo (Shauna) and grandchildren; Ian, Nicole and Alicia.
Lilian was born in Pozzo, Udine, Italy in 1936 and immigrated to Calgary, AB in 1952 with her mom Velia, and sisters, Norma and Carla. They joined their father Albino Contardo who had come to Canada a year earlier. Lilian met the love of her life Joe and they married in 1955. They built a wonderful life together, and their home was filled with great food, wine and hospitality. They loved to travel, visiting the Caribbean, Europe and Australia before Joe’s passing in 1994. Lilian continued to travel with her kids, a highlight being a trip to Mexico for her 80th birthday. Lilian spent many hours in her garden and her flowers were her pride and joy. She enjoyed volunteering with the Saturday bread team at St. Joseph Church. Everyone she met was a new friend and was gifted with a package of her homemade pizzelle. Her passing has left a hole in our lives but we are grateful she had a long, active and vibrant life. We will miss her Nonna hugs.
