It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Katharina Stutz (nee Buser), on Tuesday, October 19, 2021, in Calgary, AB. She passed at the age of 63 years after a long battle with Pancreatic Cancer and Multiple Sclerosis.

Katharina was born in Aarau, Switzerland on April 5, 1958, to parents Karl Buser and Margrit Liechti. Katharina was a beloved grandmother (Omi), mother, partner, aunt, sister, sister-in-law and friend. She had a bright spark in her eye and an optimistic spirit. Her resilience and positivity prevailed throughout her life, even in the face of profound adversity.

Katharina is survived by her partner, David Engensperger; son, Benjamin Stutz; daughter, Jacqueline Stutz; son-in-law, Dillon Romney; granddaughter, Elouise Romney; daughter, Jessica Stutz; son-in-law, Ryan Jokinen; grandson, Julius Jokinen; brother, Heinz Buser; sister-in-law Evangeline Dausan Buser; niece, Nathanja Pluss-Buser; niece, Dinah Buser; nephew, Fabian Buser; sister, Brigitte Perrin; brother-in-law Michel Perrin; niece, Marilou Perrin; nephew, Nicolas Perrin, brother-in-law, Walter Stutz; sister-in-law Alison Stutz; niece, Ruth Stutz; nephew, Joshua Stutz and many dear friends and angels.

Katharina was predeceased by her late husband, Rudolf Stutz; mother, Margrit Liechti Buser; and father, Karl Buser. Katharina will be deeply missed by all whose lives she touched with her kindness, bravery, and joie de vivre.

Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society, the Canadian Red Cross, Deaf & Hear Alberta or the Easter Seals Alberta are welcome in lieu of flowers. In keeping with Katharina’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A brick has been inscribed near Annie’s Bakery in Fish Creek Provincial Park in remembrance of Katharina’s love of nature. A heartfelt thank you to the staff at Agecare Skypoint Hospice and McInnis and Holloway, Fish Creek for their wonderful care, compassion, and support.
