Obituary of Eunice Starkes

STARKES, Eunice Theresa (nee Lefort)

September 13, 1939 –Woking, England

October 28, 2021 – Calgary Alberta

Eunice Starkes, beloved wife of Brian Starkes, of Calgary, AB, passed away on Thursday, October 28, 2021, at the age of 82 years.

Eunice was born in Woking, Surrey, England on September 13, 1939, to parents George and Florence Lefort. She immigrated to Australia in 1963 where she met and married her husband and best friend on November 27, 1964. They were married for fifty-seven years. Six years later she then immigrated again to Calgary to raise her son and daughter in a loving and caring home. She graduated from County Girls of Maidenhead. She completed a two-year training at HRH Princess Christian College in Windsor as a Nursery Nurse which led to her nursing positions in both England and Calgary. Eunice accomplished much through her life and was particularly proud of her lifetime friendships with Dawn Jubb, Gillian Reynolds, and Rosemary Tyson.

Eunice absolutely loved singing; she was a member of the Singing Circle at the Kerby Center where she made many friends. She was also an avid reader and she loved her 4oclock teatime with the request as her dad would say to his wife Florence, “Put kettle on F”.

Eunice’s most memorable vacation was when she went on a One-month cruise of the South Seas to Australia in 2008.

Besides her loving husband, Eunice is survived by her son, Timothy of El Dorado Hills, USA; daughter, Tamara (Keith) Richards of High River, Alberta; grandchildren, Kelvin, and Brianna Richards of High River. Eunice is also survived by her brother, Christopher Lefort and Kenna Blair of BC; sisters, Marion Taylor, and Yvonne Ruff of Calgary; pet, Sylvester; and numerous friends, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Eunice was predeceased by her parents, George and Florence Lefort; brother, Roger; and pets, Tosca, Amber, Lisa, Sapphire, Eric, and Tinker.
