Obituary of Grietje (Greta) van der Meer (nee Kruisenga)

Grietje van der Meer of Calgary, AB passed away on Friday, November 19, 2021 at the age of 102 years.

Greta was born in Soutkamp, Groningen, The Netherlands in 1919. She married Wolter in 1942 and immigrated to Quebec, Canada in 1952 with her husband and two children before moving west to Calgary in 1959.

Greta is survived by her daughter Greta, son Wes (Vicki), grandchildren, Nancy, Tanya (Kevin), Wally (Charlene); as well as her eight great-grandchildren, Hannah, Jack, Carson, Alissa, Hanna, Jacob, Colin and Denise; and three great-greatgrandchildren, Kyle, Haylee, and Laelah. She was predeceased by her husband Wolter in 2005 and her infant grandson.

A Memorial Service will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Chapel Of The Bells, 2720 Centre Street North, Calgary, AB), on Wednesday, December 8, 2021, at 10:00 A.M. Those attending will be asked to confirm one of the following, (A) COVID vaccination (date requested), OR (B) a negative COVID test (within 72 hours), OR (C) Medical exemption AND valid government identification (with name & date of birth) OR (D) Under 12 years of age.
