Our condolences go out to Harle, Aaron, Alexa and Conner.
>We have so many great memories of our friendship, starting in 1972 when Sue and I moved to Saskatoon and met Andy in the Geology department. We immediately hit it off being both fans of outdoor activities, rocks and 'barley sandwiches'. We went tobogganing that first winter on the banks of the river which apart from minor frostbite and a fear of ending up in the river was great fun. We played departmental football and rugby for the Gophers and were often invited out for dinner to his parents' home a 150 mile round trip out to the east in Lanigan.
Through Andy's help we found out about a low cost housing scheme and bought our first home in 1973 and he helped 'decorate' the lounge carpet with venison stew soon after we moved in. We spent one Christmas with his sister and brother-in-law enjoying a festive goose served with tomato ketchup (as the meat was so dry!). Andy also helped us in buying cars - and later in fixing them, until we eventually could afford a new one just before moving to Calgary to start a permanent job. In addition, there were evenings of playing canasta, days and weekends hiking in the Rockies and ski outings. Spending time with Andy could be guaranteed to be active and full of fun and laughter!
