Obituary of Megan Anne Kate Eekma

February 17, 1987 – Calgary, Alberta

November 19, 2021 – Pincher Creek, Alberta

 

With heavy hearts we announce the sudden passing of Megan Eekma on Friday, November 19, 2021, at the age of 34 years.

 

Megan was born in Calgary, AB on February 17, 1987. She attended Bishop O’Byrne High School. Megan volunteered with the Tim Horton’s Kid Camp in Alberta. Megan accomplished much through her life and was particularly proud of being a mother to her three beautiful children. Megan enjoyed music, loved to sing, she was a movie enthusiast and she loved to colour. Megan enjoyed many memorable vacations with her family to Disneyland. She will be most remembered for her smile, her infectious laugh, and her love of water.

Megan is survived by her son Declan (16); daughters, Chloe (13) and Ava (4); her parents, Katherine (Robert) of Birch Bay, AB and Maurice (Jackie) of Calgary, AB; grandparents, Margaret and Bruce Eekma and Ellen Moore all of Calgary.  She is also survived by her two brothers, Nicholas (Michelle) and Josh; and three sisters, Brittany (Niall), Lauren and Jessica; as well as numerous uncles, aunts, nieces and nephews, cousins, friends, and her pet Kahlua.

 

Funeral Services will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Fish Creek, 14441 Bannister Road SE, Calgary, AB) on Friday, December 3, 2021, 10:00 a.m. Those attending will be asked to provide valid government identification (with name and date of birth) AND confirm one of the following: (A)Provincial vaccine record with QR code (paper or digital); OR (B)negative COVID test (within 72 hours); or (C)valid medical exemption (signed letter); OR (D)under 12 years of age.
