Obituary of Jan Gilmour

Janice (Jan) Louise Gilmour aged 68, passed away peacefully at home in Cochrane, Alberta on Wednesday, November 24, 2021 with her family at her side.

Jan was born in Toronto in 1953 and was the daughter of the late George and Mildred Boyce. Jan married her husband Warren in 1974 and shortly thereafter they moved to Edmonton. Jan worked as a medical secretary in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Alberta for over 30 years before retiring in 2018.

Jan is survived by Warren Gilmour, her loving husband of 47 years, her sons, Matthew (Susan) and Ryan (Allison); her brother Kevin Boyce and sister-in-law Lynn Tomlin (David); her aunt and uncle, Don and Lois Ellis; many cousins and close friends. Jan was a wonderfully devoted Nan to her grandchildren, Madison, Tommy, Hayden and Lucca.

A Service of Remembrance will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Cochrane, 369 Railway Street, Cochrane, AB), on Saturday, December 4, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. Those attending will be asked to provide valid government identification (with name and date of birth) AND confirm one of the following: (A)Provincial vaccine record with QR code (paper or digital); OR (B)negative COVID test (within 72 hours); or (C)valid medical exemption (signed letter); OR (D)under 12 years of age.
