Obituary of Marion Edith Benstead

Born Marion Edith Rice in the city of Edmonton on January 22, 1938. She passed away peacefully at the age of 83 in the loving arms of her family.

 

At a young age Marion moved to Calgary and while working at the Grand Theatre, she met and married the love of her life, Frank Benstead.

 

She was a kind and wonderful person. Marion worked many years in the floral designing world. She was a dedicated volunteer to the Lions Club and was awarded the White Hat Ambassador Award in Calgary.

 

Marion loved to attend camp outs and enjoyed visiting “The Property” along the Little Red River. Her beautiful voice and smile won the hearts of those who knew her. Marion was an avid Calgary Flames and Stampeder Fan.   

 

Marion is survived by her children and their spouses, Frank and Rose Ann Benstead, Rosanne and Detlef Mroczkowski, Marion and Rex Cowan, Christine and Ron Anderson, and Rose Benstead; as well as  numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and her brother and sister-in-law, Lloyd and Roberta Higdon. Marion was predeceased by her loving husband of 63 years Frank “Tweety” Benstead; her son William “Bill” Benstead; and her brother Skip Higdon.
