Obituary of Kenny William Chorney

November 7, 1955 – Yorkton, Saskatchewan

December 28, 2021 – Calgary, Alberta

Ken Chorney of Calgary, AB, passed away on Tuesday, December 28, 2021, at the age of 66 years.

Ken was born in Yorkton, SK, on November 7, 1955.  In the early 1970’s he headed to Calgary, where he embarked on his lifelong career field.  He spent many years at both McLellan Fencing and Phoenix Fence, as well as his own company.

In 1981, while serving as best man at the wedding of dear friends Ken and Faye Husch, he met his future wife Carol, who was serving as Maid of Honour. In 1984 they were married, and in 1985 had their daughter Ashley, the light of Ken’s life.

Ken accomplished much through his six decades and was particularly proud that his daughter and stepsons followed his footsteps into the fencing business.  He also loved spending time outdoors, especially fishing and hunting.  Ken could be found many days on the river, camping with friends, or hitting the ski slopes.

Ken will be missed by his daughter Ashley, son-in-law Stephen; and grandchildren, Ava and Zachary Dean, of Calgary.

Ken is also survived by his stepsons, James Schroeder and Chris Schroeder, of Calgary; sister Marie Grandage and niece Corrie Diligenti of Vancouver; as well as many dear friends. Ken was predeceased by his parents Christine and John Chorney, and brother Kelly Chorney.

The family would like to thank Rockyview General Hospital and Chinook Care Centre for the wonderful care provided.  We are so grateful for the time we got to spend with Ken at the end of his life.

Due to current restrictions a funeral will not be held at this time.  A celebration of Ken’s life will be announced at a later date. Condolences, memories, and photos can also be shared and viewed here.
