Obituary of Marion Armstrong-Dick

February 23, 1950 - Perth, Ontario

December 31, 2021 - Calgary, Alberta

With great sadness, the family announces that on Friday, December 31, 2021 Marion passed away peacefully at the age of 71 in Calgary, AB.

Marion was the sixth and youngest child born to Yorke and Edna Armstrong just outside of Perth, ON. At the age of three, her family moved to Calgary where Marion started school and developed her love of education. She earned her science and education degrees at both the University of Calgary and the University of Alberta and taught science and biology until her retirement. Marion enjoyed many activities in her younger years including equestrian dressage at Spruce Meadows. Marion met the love of her life, Ron Dick and they married on August 21, 1995. Marion and Ron loved to travel together, go to live Theatre shows, play golf and care for their beloved dogs. More recently, they traveled yearly to their second home in sunny Chandler, Arizona. Marion and Ron joined a local Chandler Bocce club and looked forward to playing with friends weekly. Marion was an avid Red Hat Society member in Calgary and in Phoenix and she enjoyed regular social events with her Red Hatter friends. Marion had a great sense of humor, bright outlook on life in good times and bad, and laughed easily and often.

Marion is survived by her adoring husband Ron Dick; his children, Lisa Welsh and Mike (Amanda) Dick; grandchildren, Daniel, Nicholas, Kaitlyn and Braydon; and great-grandchildren, Hayden, Mason, Maria, Matteo; her brothers, Arthur (Linde) Armstrong, and Gordon Armstrong; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Marion was predeceased by her parents, Yorke and Edna Armstrong, and by her three older sisters, Ilene Armstrong (1969), Alice Wilson (2014), Arthena Fleming (2015).
