Rose McKendrick

Obituary of Rose McKendrick

January 10, 1927 - Poltusk, Poland
January 5, 2022 - Calgary, Alberta

In 1930 Rose arrived in Canada when she was three years old with her parents Avram and Bella; sisters Anne and Sarah; and brother Benjamin. Rose grew up in Toronto, ON where she met and married John McKendrick with whom she had three sons.

The family hopscotched its way across the country finally landing in Calgary in 1967. Here, Rose began a very successful 30 year career in bookkeeping where she made strong and lasting relationships with clients and friends. Always gregarious, a highlight of Rose's year were the Christmas lunches that she hosted for clients in local restaurants, and in her home for friends. Rose enjoyed the occasional day at the horse races, an evening at the Bingo Hall, travelling, bowling (indoors and out), and long phone conversations. In later years she was happy spending a couple of winter months in Arizona often with a friend. Rose was always a loving supporter, whether it was a shoulder to cry on, flying across country for a graduation, attending a theatre performance, or providing a haven in need. She will be warmly remembered by those she held dear to her.

On January 5th, Rose succumbed to the effects of Alzheimer's disease and passed quietly, five days before her 95th birthday.

Rose is survived by her three sons, and two granddaughters.
