Obituary of Joseph Graham Hanley

September 7, 1947 – Saint John, New Brunswick

January 12, 2022 – Airdrie, Alberta

 

Joseph “Graham” Hanley, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 12, 2022, at the age of 74 years, after a brief but courageous battle with cancer.

 

Graham was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. His love for his family, his pride and joy, was monumental and led to his move to Airdrie, Alberta in 2014. He was actively involved in the lives of his children, from coaching his sons in minor hockey to the family fishing and camping trips with all his children and grandchildren.  He had a great love of travel and enjoyed many cruises and trips south with family and friends. 

 

Left to mourn him is his loving wife of 41 years, Karen Hanley (nee Hurley), daughter Danielle (Brian Kennedy), sons, Ian (Sheena), Jonathan (Rachel), and Andrew (Abigail); grandchildren, Alexandra, Avery, Cole, Noah, and Everett; brother Ian (Debra), sisters, Cathy (Lorne LeDrew), Joan (Rudy Rumsey), Vera (Daniel Howard), and Judy Kuster (Rod Hutchings); mother-in-law Regina Hurley, brothers-in-law, Noel Hurley (Elizabeth), Kevin Hurley, Robert Hurley (Chantal), and Brian Hurley; sisters-in-law, Jeannette Pottier (Robert), Judy O’Dell, and Florence and Bertha Hurley; cousins, Ian Graham (Geri) and Moira Neary (Gord); uncle Alistair Graham (Anne), aunt Arlene Graham, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

 

He was predeceased by his parents, Jean (nee Graham) and Joseph Hanley; uncle Melville Graham, brothers-in-law, Stephen and John Hurley, and Leo O’Dell; sisters-in-law, Regina and Beverly; and nephew Eric Hanley.

 

Funeral Services will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Airdrie, 300 Towerlane Drive) on Wednesday, January 19, 2022, at 10:30 a.m., with a reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home. Those attending will be asked to provide valid government identification (with name and date of birth) AND confirm one of the following: (A)Provincial vaccine record with QR code (paper or digital); OR (B)negative COVID test (within 72 hours); or (C)valid medical exemption (signed letter); OR (D)under 12 years of age Family and friends who are unable to attend in person are invited to join Mr. Hanley’s service streamed live (see below) on the day of the service. Inurnment will take place at a later date in Newfoundland. Condolences, memories and photos may be shared and viewed here.
