Obituary of Alvina Mary Drebit

Vena Drebit (nee Schwartzenberger) passed away on Thursday, January 13, 2022, at the age of 92 years.

Vena was born in Beiseker, AB where she attended the Davis and Silbernagel schools. She was a lifetime member of the CWL in Beiseker and Airdrie.

Vena will be most remembered for her kindness, sense of humour and her love of sweets.

Vena is survived by her sons Bryan (Cheryl), Bernard (Fay), Eldon (Sue), and Kim (Kathy); daughters Kathy, and Valerie; daughter-in-law Susan and son-in-law Vern Vanhee; her grandchildren, Margaret, Mark, Brant, Troy, Darren, Ashley, Travis, Tina, Latoya, Alex, Adam, Kayla, Amanda and Allison; and twenty-three great-grandchildren. She is also survived by four sisters, Vera of Beiseker, Jeanette, Carol and Joan of BC; her stepdaughters Janice (Allen) and Darlene; and step-grandchildren Lauren and Brett; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Vena was predeceased by first husband Leo Hagel, son Edwin Hagel, and daughter Marlene VanHee; five brothers and three sisters; and by her second husband Don Drebit.

Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at St Paul's Catholic Church (1305 Main Street, Airdrie, AB) on Wednesday, January 19, 2022, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at St Paul's Catholic Church (1305 Main Street, Airdrie, AB) on Wednesday, January 19, 2022, at 7:00 p.m.

A Private Invite Only Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St Paul's Catholic Church (1305 Main Street, Airdrie, AB) on Thursday, January 20, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at St Mary’s Cemetery (Beiseker, AB). Family and friends who are unable to attend in person are invited to join Mrs. Drebit’s service streamed live (see below) on the day of the service. For those who are unable to view live, a recording of the service will be posted. Condolences, memories and photos can also be shared and viewed here.
