Obituary of Lorraine Leta Jaques

May 27, 1931 – Stony Plain, Alberta
January 15, 2022 – Calgary, Alberta

It is with great love and sadness that the family of Lorraine Jaques announces her passing on Saturday January 15, 2022 in Calgary, AB, at 90 years of age.

Lorraine was born a raised on a farm near Stony Plain, AB, where she acquired a strong work ethic, which was apparent throughout her life. As a young adult she attended secretarial school and met David who she married in 1951. The children they had together were her pride and joy. 

A long-time resident of St. Albert, Lorraine worked many years at Canada Post.  She enjoyed gardening, baking, paper tole, and earned the coveted title of Perogie Queen. She was a great cook! She had a calm nature and great sense of humour!

Lorraine is lovingly remembered by her five children, Darryl (Jean), Randy (Brenda), Karen (Michael), Ken (Lisa), and Shelley (David); as well as twelve grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Marlene, brothers, Marvin and Gerald; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Lorraine was predeceased by her husband David in 1981. She was also predeceased by her parents, Elizabeth and Rudolph Gitzel; and siblings, Wilma, Shirley and Delores.

A Private Funeral Service will be held on Monday, January 24, 2022. Graveside Service to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery (Edmonton, AB). Condolences, memories and photos may be shared and viewed here. The family would like to thank the staff and caregivers at Wentworth Manor Court for the care they provided for our mother over the last five years.
