Obituary of Carol Shirley Ploss

Carol Ploss, of Calgary, AB, passed away on Sunday, January 16, 2022, at the age of 85 years.

Carol was born in King Kirkland, ON, on September 16, 1936, in her home which her father had built for his growing family.

She moved to Calgary, AB, in 1963. While Calgary was where she raised her two boys, and when they grew older, she lived in three different provinces in Canada, briefly in Colorado and even Germany. Carol married her husband, Rauland “Rauly” Ploss, in 1994, returning to Calgary only with his passing in 2017.

Carol graduated from the Kirkland Lake Collegiate School with a Diploma in Commercial Business. She accomplished much through her life and was particularly proud of her attention to detail and ability to discern how best to meet the needs of her clients. From lumber and investments, to an exclusive clothing line, to the portfolios she had as a Director of Sales for a number of Hotels throughout Canada, she always had pride in her work and it showed.

Carol travelled extensively, but her favourite vacation spots were the Hawaiian Islands and New Orleans. She always enjoyed having a garden and taking long walks. Carol was one of Jehovah’s Witnesses and was baptized in 1950. She will be most remembered for her ability to make everyone feel at ease and valued.

Carol is survived by her two sons and a daughter-in-law, Ronald Waters and Elselita Odron, and Terry Murray all of Calgary, AB; five grandchildren, Emma, Arjie, Joseph (Charity), Rhea,  and Shawn; and one great-grandchild, Evanna Snow.

Carol is also survived by two sisters, Gwen Cull of Sudbury, ON, and Joyce Coad of Winnipeg, MN; brother-in-law Ronald Osborn of Carberry, MN, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Besides her loving husband, Carol was predeceased by her parents Ross and Emma Waters; brother Claude Waters, sister Elaine Osborn, and her grandson Paul.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, February 5, 2022 at 2:00p.m. MST.
