Obituary of Evelyn Gallaher

GALLAHER, Evelyn (nee Rempel)
March 23, 1926 – Edam, Saskatchewan
March 3, 2022 – Calgary, Alberta

It is with deep sorrow that we say goodbye to Luella “Evelyn” Gallaher of Calgary.  Evelyn was called home on Thursday, March 3, 2022, at the age of 95 years.

Beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, and great-grandmother,  Evelyn is mourned by her husband of 71 years, James Gallaher, daughter Patricia Brown John, son Ken Gallaher, her brother Art Rempel, ten grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, as well as countless good and dear friends gathered over her 95 years. Evelyn was predeceased by her son, Daniel Gallaher, her parents Jacob and Agatha Rempel, her brothers John Rempel, Bill Rempel, and Alf Rempel.

Evelyn was born in Mervin, Saskatchewan in 1926, moved to Calgary in her early 20s, met her husband Jim Gallaher and married in September 1950.  The young family moved to Edmonton in the early 50s, had three children and then on to a farm near Hay Lakes,  Alberta where they enjoyed life before retiring to Camrose in 1994 and then to Calgary in 2002.  

A Memorial Service will be conducted at Westview Baptist Church (1313 Ranchlands Way N.W., Calgary, AB) on Friday, March 11, 2022 at 2:00 p.m.Please use this link provided by the church to watch the service if you are unable to be there in person. https://www.westviewchurch.ca/ . Reception to follow in the “Fireside Room”. Evelyn was a dear friend to all who knew her and a constant witness and example of the love of her saviour.  We will hold her love in our hearts forever.  

In living memory of Evelyn Gallaher, a tree will be planted in the Ann & Sandy Cross Conservation Area.
