Obituary of Hulda (Hilda) Rosa Moghadam (nee Kerker)
September 7, 1930 – Adliswil, Switzerland
March 24, 2022 – Calgary, Alberta
We are saddened to announce the passing of Hilda. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Hossein (Joe) in 2010. She is survived by her brothers, Max (Dorli) and Goepf (Ursi); sons, Brian (Gayle Hunter), Ken (Andy) and Mike (Esther); as well as five grandchildren - Megan (Joe), Rachel, Matthew, Jeff and Katie; and one great-grandchild, Emelia.
Mom was born in Adliswil, Switzerland and met Dad at the University of Zurich. They were married in New York in 1954 and moved to Chicago where Mom was a respected hematology technician at Michael Reese Hospital. Soon after, Mom and Dad moved to Vancouver, where all three sons were born. Dad's career took him back and forth across Canada, but they eventually settled in Calgary where Mom was active as a board member for many years on the Ronald McDonald House.
Mom was a mountain girl and loved hiking in the mountains, especially to see the Alpine flowers, up until her mid-80s. Mom loved to entertain, socialize and engage. She was lively, warm, welcoming, fun and loved to laugh. She was a proud Canadian but never forgot her Swiss roots. She will be missed.
Our family is grateful for the wonderful care Mom received at Amica Aspen Woods and Cambridge Manor. We are also thankful for the loving support of her many friends. The family would especially like to thank Dr Michael Kroetsch for his compassion and care.
A Celebration of Hilda’s Life will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Park Memorial, 5008 Elbow Drive SW, Calgary, AB) on Monday, August 29, 2022, at 10:30 a.m. Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home. Condolences, memories, and photos can also be shared and viewed here.
