Obituary of Amy Stagg

STAGG, Amy Lynn (nee Munson)
March 20, 1963 – Sycamore, Illinois, USA
April 9, 2022 – Calgary, Alberta

On Saturday, April 9, 2022, our beautiful wife, mother, grandmother, and friend Amy went peacefully into the arms of Jesus after a courageous second battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her loving husband and children. Amy is survived by her husband Kevin, daughter Rachael (Nick), son Ian, sister Heidi, and various nieces, nephews, and cousins and in-laws.

Amy grew up in small town Sycamore, Illinois. She was a theatre major (acknowledged in the Shakespearean review for her amazing portrayal of Juliet) who became a high school English, theatre, and speech teacher. Often mistaken for one of the students in her early teaching career she was regularly asked if she had her hall pass. She met and married Kevin after a blind date and courtship facilitated through work friends. After the proposal the pair moved from Sycamore, Illinois back to Calgary where she embarked on several work experiences with Pan Alberta, then a family business and finally 20+ years working in various capacities for RockPointe Church. Amy was always driven in whatever role she was in and completed the work of two people in half the time.

Amy was the consummate servant, volunteering with various theatre groups such as Stage Coach and Theatre 80 as well as various charitable organizations over the years. She was always concerned for the welfare of others and caring for their every need. She was very private and never wanted anyone to make a fuss over her, preferring to serve others with her quiet strength and leadership. She poured the same dedication and love into her family and imprinted her values on her children. She had an impact on all she met and will be greatly missed. Amy was always a hostess and loved when her home was filled with friends and family that she could serve various food and drinks too. If you left her home hungry it was your fault.

Although those of us left behind grieve her loss we celebrate that she is no longer in pain or discomfort and is made new in heaven. We long for the day we will be re-united with her.
