Obituary of Nora Blanche Trono

March 10, 1927 - Calgary, Alberta

April 16, 2022 - Calgary, Alberta

Nora Blanche Trono (nee Munro) passed away in her sleep the morning of April 16, 2022 at Dulcina Hospice Care just five weeks after her 95th birthday on March 10.

Nora was born in Calgary in 1927 and spent her early years on the family farm in Springbank with her parents (Charlie and Luella) and three siblings (Bill, Eileen and Roy). She lived with her grandparents in Calgary for two years of high school then started work at Zellers. Eventually she managed inventory for all the Cavalier China and Gift shops in Calgary. She married Neil Trono and moved to the Wildwood district in Calgary where she stayed until seven years ago when she moved into the Manor at Signature Park.

Nora was known for her love of gardening and being an upbeat person, always finding something cheerful to say.  A word often repeated in reference to Nora is that she was kind.

Nora is survived by many nieces and nephews: Terry and Blaine [Winnie] Munro in Edmonton, Lynda [Ron] Pierzchala in Lethbridge, Ray and Rod Nelson in Pincher Creek, Susan [Brian] Copithorne in Springbank, Brenda and Clarence Munro in Alberta, Brent Munro in Costa Rica, Lesley [Luke] Sandham and Melissa Trono in Calgary. Nora is also survived by two sisters-in-law: Shirley Munro in Edmonton and Mary Trono in Calgary.

A celebration of her life will be held at the McInnis & Holloway Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) at 2:00 on Wednesday April 27. Please come prepared with a story or two about Nora as this will be an informal affair.

Her ashes will be interred beside Neil who passed in 1983. This will take place at Queen’s Park Cemetery.

In living memory of Nora Trono, a tree will be planted in the Ann & Sandy Cross Conservation Area by McInnis & Holloway Funeral Homes, Chapel of the Bells, 2720 Centre Street North, Calgary, AB T2E 2V6, Telephone: 403-243-8200.
