Condolences
My sincerest condolences to the family of Dr. Don, a gentlemen with a great sense of humour that was sometimes lost on others. May this great attribute follow him wherever his spirit goes. RIP
I would like to send my condolences to Don's wife Frankie and his children and their respective families. I had the privilege of meeting Don 42 years ago when he joined Norcen Energy in the UK office, whilst I was working as office manager. Don and I were responsible for closing this office 7 years later and Don, Doreen and family moved to Calgary. I followed several months later and worked for Don in Norcen Calgary for a period of one year, getting to know Doreen well and some of his children. Don was a very respectable man, a great conversationalist and had a very dry sense of humour. I am sure he will be greatly missed by many. I am honoured to have known him, rest in peace Don.
Donald was my best friend from the age of about five when we first went to School. Our friendship continued throughout our school days when we played cricket together and watched cricket together. We climbed mountains together, we watched cricket just after the war at Barrow in Furness when some of the greats from pre war days played charity matches - and signed autographs for the small boys, We also watched rugby league at Barrow-in-Furness and Don was always intrigued by the way the late great Willie Horne converted tries and kicked goals with his instep - Don reminded me 50 years later.
Donald was always top of the class and sat in the corner seat at the Back. He was the winner in all the races - all the challenges Our paths diverted but it was a great joy to meet up with him 30 years or so ago and our old Friendship remained - we continued to keep in contact and exchange views and news and memories. Although he was talented in all walks of life he was always Modest and always popular . I hope some our friends who are left will read this and join with me in saying We will Miss him howsoever long we knew him.
Greetings Gordon Penman.
