May 4, 2022 – Calgary, Alberta

Marie-Ange Hul, beloved wife of Aurele Hul, of Calgary, AB, passed away on Wednesday, May 4, 2022, at the age of 80 years.

Marie-Ange was born in Ledeberg, Belgium on May 15, 1941.  She graduated from the Institute Saint Louis.

Marie-Ange married Aurele in 1961 and her sons were born in 1964 and 1965.

Marie-Ange worked very hard with her husband in their dry-cleaning business, but also took care of many things in the home, most importantly the cooking. Marie-Ange had a passion for cooking and her favourite dishes were enjoyed by so many. She loved to welcome others to her home and created wonderful meals and memories for family and friends. Marie-Ange also loved to travel and she and Aurele, along with their sons, family and friends enjoyed beautiful vacations to the south of France and many other places including Morocco, Egypt, Italy and Israel.

Marie-Ange and Aurele made a big move to Calgary, Alberta, Canada in 1994 to be closer to their sons and first-born grandchild. Marie-Ange was particularly proud of her two sons, daughter-in-laws and her grandchildren, their happiness meant more to her than anything.  She will be remembered for the loving relationships she had with those who mourn her passing because of how much she gave to everyone around her.  She always thought of others before herself and was so generous to her family and friends.

Besides her loving husband of sixty-one years, Aurele, Marie-Ange is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Marc and Sharon of Calgary, AB and Paul and Veronique of Invermere, BC: and six grandchildren, Dominic, Natasha (Jess), Emily (Elliot), Nicholas, Isabella (Connor), and Benjamin.

Marie-Ange is also survived by two brothers, Serge De Raedt (Chris) of Brasschaat, Belgium and Yves De Raedt (Marie-Paule) of De Pinte, Belgium, her sister Vinciane De Raedt of Gent, Belgium, brother-in-law Noel Hul (†Myriam), sisters-in-law Nicole Droesbecque, Nicole De Clercq, Sabine Hul-Eskens (†Jan), Cecile Hul-Garre (†Gilbert) and Suzanne Meys-Hul (†Raphael) as well as many great-nieces and nephews, extended family, and friends.

Marie-Ange was predeceased by her parents Margot and Carlos De Raedt; two brothers, Carlos De Raedt and Egide De Raedt.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Foothills Hospital, Palliative Home Care and the Chinook Care Hospice for their care.  The family would also like to thank Mama and Papa’s neighbors, most specially, Kirk and Lesley for their years of friendship and support.
