So sad to hear of Josephine’s passing. She had a beautiful smile and a beautiful heart. Condolences to the entire Kowalchuk family.
I would like to share a conversation we had on a visit some 10 years ago. I was telling her about being so busy at work and then keeping the house clean and I was a little bit OCD about the house being clean. I will tell the story from the 1970s as she told it to me.
One day a church lady came to the house to visit. John left the room and the lady leaned over and whispered, “Josephine, there is dust on the shelf behind the TV. You really need to dust more often.” Well I looked at her then got up and went into the kitchen under the sink. I returned with a can of Endust and a rag and plopped it in front of the lady saying, “If it bothers you so much, get to work! I am going to enjoy my time on this earth and not worry about the small things”. The lady didn’t dust but she didn’t stay much longer either!
Josephine then went on to tell me how she was so happy that her and John went on their weekend road trips and spent time together instead of dusting the house! I left her after that visit and realized that she was right. Every time I see my dust on the dining room sideboard, I do and will continue to smile reminding me of Josephine’s lesson to me to live life….not dust.

Saying goodbye to someone we love is heartbreaking and someone
so special will never be forgotten .
Josephine's home was always open to us and our family.
We will miss her always . Rest in peace Jo.
We are very sad to hear of the passing of Auntie Jo. We are sad that she never had the opportunity to meet our daughters as I know she would have treated them as if they were here own kids; just as she treated all her nieces and nephews.
Your home and your heart was always open to us. We miss you. We love you.
My deepest condolences to my Kowalchuk Cousin families. I am saddened to hear that my dear cousin Josephine has passed away. I enjoyed my many conversations with her even though distance stood between us. She will also be sadly missed by the Filipowich families. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you. God Bless you all.
Sincerely, Marge Peshko, Rosalie and Larry, Michael ans Diana, Christina and Michael, Margaret and Ed
We were very sorry to hear of Jo's sudden passing. She was a good friend for 59 years. We had many, many rousing card games, traveled together and visited casinos among other activities. She missed the love of her life and may they now be reunited. RIP friend.
