Obituary of Vincent Burke McKeown

Vince McKeown, beloved husband, father, and grandfather passed away on Tuesday, May 10, 2022, at the age of 88. Vince was surrounded by his loving family as he went to his heavenly home.


Vince was raised on the family farm in Alliston, ON along with his five brothers and 4 sisters. He obtained a B.Sc. (Hons) in Geophysics at the University of Toronto in 1956. He married Elizabeth in 1958 and together they had five children. His long career in the energy sector occurred primarily in Alberta, but also took him and Elizabeth on adventures to Denver, Pakistan, and China.


Vince’s true joy came from spending time with his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed attending their sporting events, celebrating their achievements, or just having a quiet visit and sharing a glass of wine.


Vince is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Elizabeth; children, Dave (Margaret), Terri (Rick), Sandra (Gary), Doug (Lynn), Brenda (Michael) and his precious grandchildren, Haley, Shea, Kate, Sam, Max, Jack, Lucy, and Daniel.


He is also survived by siblings Leona, Bert, Norine, and Edward. He was predeceased by his sister Rosalie and brothers Charles, Ronan, Thomas, and Donald.


Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church (1600 Acadia Drive SE, Calgary, AB) on Monday, May 16, 2022, at 11:30 a.m. Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home.
