Obituary of Ippolito Imbrogno

Ippolito Imbrogno of Calgary, AB, passed away on Thursday, May 12, 2022 at the age of 93 years.

Ippolito was born in Rovito, Cosenza, Italy on October 14, 1928.  He married Lucia (nee Gervino) on June 4, 1953, they moved to Canada in June of 1964, settling in Montreal.

Ippolito worked in construction, as a general labourer, and as a machine operator.  He enjoyed gardening, making wine from grapes, and working on small projects in his garage.  He also enjoyed cooking and was particularly proud of his marriage, family, home, and friendships. Ippolito’s most memorable vacation was when he travelled back to his country, Italy.

Ippolito is survived by his two sons and two daughters-in-law, Franco (Rosa) and Peter (Johanne) of Calgary, AB; his four grandchildren, Alessandro, Ashley, Patrick, and James, all of Calgary, AB; and his two great-grandchildren, Alessandro and Alyanna, Calgary, AB.  He is also survived by his sister-in-law Annina (Rocco) of Edmonton, AB, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Ippolito was predeceased by his loving wife, Lucia Imbrogno (nee Gervino), his parents Barbara and Giorgio Imbrogno, his five brothers, Nicola (Maria) of Italy, Ernesto (Raffaella) of Montreal, QC, Carmine (Norina) of Italy, Gianni (Nicia) of Montreal, QC, and Rocco of Edmonton, AB; two sisters, Concetta (Totonno) of Edmonton, AB and Natalina (Alfredo) of Italy.

Funeral Services will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Deerfoot South, 12281 – 40th Street SE, Calgary, AB) on Tuesday, May 17, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home. Family and friends who are unable to attend in person are invited to join Mr. Imbrogno’s service streamed live (see below) on the day of the service.
