Obituary of Florence Grace Fischer
December 15, 1933 – Dodsland, Saskatchewan
May 15, 2022 – Calgary, Alberta
Florence Fischer, faithful wife of the late John Fischer, of Calgary, AB, passed away on Sunday, May 15, 2022, at the age of 88 years.
Florence was born in Dodsland, SK, on December 15, 1933. She was one of ten children born to Jess and Jessie Hawkins and was raised in Hoosier, SK. Florence took her schooling in Hoosier and went to Saskatoon where she graduated from Teacher’s college in 1952. She married Albert King in 1953 and had three daughters. Florence and Bert lived their married life in SK. Bert died in 1961 and Florence returned to teaching and moved to Major in 1964. Florence married John in 1969 and moved to Calgary.
Florence is survived by her three daughters Diane, Donna and Marilyn; one son Michael, also son-in-law Steve, and grandchildren, Carlene, Julie, Jamie, Cassie, Dan, Michaela, and Emerson. She is also survived by great-grandchildren Matthew, Jessica, Sebastian, Izac, Julianna, Anne, Benjamin, Joseph, Zelda, Alexander, MacKenzie; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Florence is also survived by her brother Roger (Muriel), sisters Dorothy (Vern) and Shirley (Bob);and sisters-in-law Linda and May.
Besides her loving husband John, Florence was predeceased by parents Jess and Jessie; brothers Howard and Hughie; and sisters, Evelyn, June and Lorna, Betty.
A Memorial Service will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Chapel of The Bells, 2720 Centre Street North, Calgary, AB), to be announced at a later date.
