Obituary of Don Andersen

March 22, 1942 – Edmonton, Alberta

May 23, 2022– Calgary, Alberta

It is with great sadness we mourn an amazing and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, uncle and friend, Don Hans Clausen Andersen, who passed way at home in the loving arms of his wife and best friend of 50 years, on Monday May 23, 2022 at the age of 80, after a six month battle of sarcoma cancer.  Don fought this battle with such grace and courage and somehow kept his sense of humour.

Don will be remembered always for his sense of humour, big smile, big hugs, big heart, always willing to help and especially the love for his family. He loved camping, walks along the river, drives to the mountains, family time, just the simple things in life.

Our true joy was the time we spent at the log cabin in Hoadley Alberta.  We especially enjoyed when the kids and grandkids came for a visit, riding on the quad and tractor, campfires, baseball, board games, long walks, snow shoeing, laughter, reminiscing, wildlife, peace and tranquillity .......  it was an amazing 10 years.

He was the proud and loving father to his children Donny (Ashley), Jim (Kathy) and Tracy. We were also blessed with eight cherished grandchildren and eight cherished great-grandchildren. He also survived by his beloved brother Bob (Linda) and his beloved sisters (childhood birthday presents) Myrna and Mary Lou, sister-in laws, brothers-in-law, numerous nieces, and nephews. He was predeceased by his beloved brothers Jimmy and Terry and beloved sister Karen.

The family wish to send, a special thanks to the Calgary Home Care and Palliative Care team. We could never have done this journey at home without their support.

As per Don’s request no funeral service will be held. Condolences, memories and photos can also be shared and viewed here.
