December 24, 1953 – Lethbridge, Alberta

May 25, 2022 – Calgary, Alberta

James (Cam) Larson, beloved husband of Linda Larson (nee Maetche) of Calgary, AB, passed away on Wednesday, May 25, 2022, at the age of 68 years.

He was known to many as James but most of us knew and loved him as Cam. James (Cam) was born in Lethbridge but grew up in the Belfast district of Calgary. In 1969, while in Grade 11, he was introduced by friends, to the love of his life, Linda. And the rest is history. They married on November 2, 1974, and this year would have been their 48th anniversary.

James (Cam) worked for Canadian Meter when he took a career turn and joined the banking industry up to his retirement. His favorite years were as an agricultural manager. Banking would take him and the family to various town/city locations throughout Alberta. Finally making it full circle back to Calgary.

In 1981, he was blessed with the birth of his daughter (Tai) and in 1984 daughter (Erin) arrived. The family was now complete. He was extremely proud of his daughters; they were his world. He had a great love for animals and birds and loved all that came through the door, including the ones he said “NO” too. He was predeceased by his best fur friend, his dog Kali-Al.

James (Cam) loved sports cars, travel, Harley Davidsons, Skiing, and had a great passion for woodworking in his shop. He Heli skied a number of years and enjoyed Big White and Lake Louise for downhill.

The family is very proud to own some of his numerous original lathing projects, that we cherish. He was a jokester, lover of science fiction, dried out year old black licorice, Tim Hortons XL Steeped tea triple triple, old black and white movies and date filled cookies.

James (Cam) is survived by his wife Linda, two daughters, Tai, and Erin, both of Calgary; mother-in-law Thelma Maetche of Kelowna, BC, two sisters-in-law, Jori Ann Gruza, and Patti Maetche, both of Kelowna, BC. He is also survived by his much-loved sister Pat Lekas (Stephen) of Sackville, NB, who came into his life when he needed her the most; brother Kendall Larson (Yvonne), sister Anita (Kenny), as well as seven brothers and sisters of the Ellis family; and numerous nieces and nephews.

James (Cam) was predeceased by his mother Rose Marie Ellis and her husband Dan, father James Campbell Larson, father-in-law Lawrence Maetche; three brothers-in-law, Gary Maetche (Lori), Terry Maetche, and Moeses Gruza; and brother Larry Ellis.

There will be no services at his request.
