Obituary of Rainette Andrea Bearspaw

September 10, 1980 – Calgary, Alberta

May 27, 2022 - Calgary, Alberta

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Rainette Bearspaw, on May 28, 2022.

Rainette, lived her life to the fullest, she was a humble and caring person, and was willing to help anyone as best as she could. She made a lot of friends wherever she went, she was an easy person to get along with and because she had a humorous nature it was comfortable to be around her. Rainette had artistic talents as she was a beader, a painter, a drawer, and a singer of gospel music and enjoyed listening to music. In her early life she enjoyed playing baseball and was a traditional dancer and often travelled the powwow circuit in North America. Rainette was blessed to be raised by her grandmother, Ena (Gladys Bearspaw), who taught her traditionally and with oral history learning about Sundance’s and the Stoney Nakoda way of life. Her grandmother Gladys was well known by maternity nurses in the early years in the community of Morley, this inspired her to try and become a nurse. Rainette upgraded her education at the Bearspaw Education Authority and fondly talked about the incredible support she received from the staff and her favourite teacher Mumtaz Karim. Rainette was employed at numerous places in Morley, she worked at the Morley community school and elders care her education was her most important goal.
