Obituary of Ruth Viola Repp

Ruth Viola Repp

March 26, 1926 – June 9, 2022

On June 9, 2022 the world lost a truly delightful lady.  Our dear mom, Ruth Repp, passed away at the Foothills Hospital at the age of 96.

Mom grew up on a farm near Kindersley, Saskatchewan. She went to Robertson’s Business College in Saskatoon, and then in 1944 made the move to the “big city” of Calgary.  Her first job was at CFAC Radio. Mom met her future husband, Albert, at Penley’s Ballroom in 1947, and thus began a lifelong romance.

Family time was dear to Mom. She also enjoyed socializing with friends, dancing, bowling and traveling. We still remember Mom and Dad arriving at YYC returning from their first trip to Hawaii. Their faces lit up the whole airport.

Mom moved to Rocky Ridge Retirement Community in her later years where she made new friends and kept busy with new activities including volunteering in the Tuck Shop, participating in chair yoga, and developing some serious shuffleboard skills. She was always up for fun; any excuse for a celebration at a nice restaurant was quickly agreed to. So many memorable occasions, including grandson Colin surprising her with a birthday cake ablaze with 90 candles.

Mom’s memory is cherished by her family: her daughters and sons-in-law, Beverly and Keith Corson, Barbara and Marvin Wiebe; granddaughter Robyn Ives and her husband Cory, and grandson Colin Wiebe. Mom was predeceased by her loving husband Al in 2012. Now she can be reunited with the love of her life in Heaven.
