Obituary of Christopher Tupper Hazen

March 12, 1955 – Saskatoon, Saskatchewan

June 10, 2022 - Calgary, Alberta

Christopher Hazen beloved husband of Linda Hazen (nee Houghton) of Calgary, AB, passed away on Friday, June 10, 2022 at the age of 67 years.

Chris worked for forty years at Eecol Electric Corp from August 21, 1974, to July 31, 2014. He was particularly proud of the fact that he was forty years with the same company, mentoring many young men and women who kept in contact long after his retirement.

Chris enjoyed golf, hunting, fishing, crosswords (you can be sure he would check your spelling on a text). He loved spending time with his family and some of his favourite memories and vacations were spent in Las Vegas with friends and especially his family.

Chris’s favourite saying was "That's That Then".

He will be most remembered for his immediate, and undying love for his family and friends, his sense of humour and he always had a smile on his face. His generosity was unlimited, especially with his time. His strength showed until the end, he never complained.

Besides his loving wife, Linda, Chris is survived by his three sons Darren Hembroff (Kimberley Allard) of Winnipeg, Brad Hembroff, and Scott Hazen of Calgary; his one daughter, Andrea McPherson of Grand Cayman; his three grandchildren, Ashlee Hembroff-O'Brien (Brett), Aymee Hembroff, Allee Hembroff, of Winnipeg.

Chris is also survived by his mother, Dora Hazen; his two brothers Timothy Hazen, and Cameron (Tracy) Hazen, of Saskatoon; his sister, Marla Ramsey (Kenneth), of Saskatoon; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Chris was predeceased by his father Miles Tupper Hazen, and his son Steven Miles Hazen, as well as his pet Cedar.

There are just no words to express our thanks to the staff and professionals, at South Health Campus and the Tom Baker Cancer Centre. They went above and beyond to make his time there as comfortable as possible. He had made a list of every person he met there. A special thanks to our wonderful friends Mike and Marilyn. You were our strength always.

Linda and Chris’ family will be hosting a “come and go” gathering of family and friends to visit and share memories of Chris at their home on Saturday, July 2, 2022, from 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm. Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared and viewed here.

In living memory of Chris Hazen, a tree will be planted in the Ann & Sandy Cross Conservation Area by McInnis & Holloway Funeral Homes, Deerfoot South, 12281 – 40th Street SE, Calgary, AB T2Z 4E6, Telephone: 403-203-0525.
