Condolences
My deepest condolences to Stasia, James and Fiona. I was saddened to hear of Greg’s passing. I first met Greg when we worked together at Shell. I was just starting my engineering career, and he was experienced senior engineer. Greg was a patient teacher and I learned a lot from him. We worked together again at Aspen and while on projects we often had a laugh over the similarities in my Newfoundland background and his Irish heritage. A particularly fond memory I have of Greg regards a book I had read called “How the Irish Saved Civilization”. I told him about it and Greg found the title and premise laughable. He borrowed the book and for the next week, he would talk to me about some part of the book he read the night before. One morning, he was particularly keen to share a section he had read the night before which made him laugh: “Utter seriousness is required for the greatest accomplishments, and this the Irish find hard to sustain; at some point, the instinct to see life in a comic light becomes irresistible for the Irish”. When he returned the book to me, he had marked that page. Greg laughed about the line for a long time, continuing to bring it up months later. I still have that book and the book mark Greg left for me on that page. I am glad to have known him, learned from him and shared laughs with him.
Greg was a great guy to work with at Aspen Tech for many years. We were able to travel together on several projects at North Pole, Alaska and Sinclair, Wyoming – cold place right down the alley for a Calgary man!
As my wife and I recently traveled around Ireland in mid-June I frequently thought about Greg and his Irish roots. He fondly mentioned his daughter’s clogging abilities
Greg will be missed.
Kindest regards to the family,

I am so truly said to learn of this loss. I so loved working with Greg - he had tremendous knowledge and great humility. He was always calm under pressure, a great manager and advocate to his team. He was a great friend to everyone and I loved his humor. My sincere thoughts and prayers go out to you.
I am very sorry to hear the sad news. We worked together for a few years. Greg was always helpful, friendly and patient with the team. Personally, I got a lot of help and learned a lot from Greg. It is a big loss to all of us. He will be always remembered as a great person and friend.
