Obituary of Leonard William Grant

Leonard William Grant, beloved husband of the late Anne Grant (née Konelsky) of Calgary, AB passed away on Sunday, June 19, 2022, at the age of 93 years.

Leonard was born in Burnaby, BC and came to Alberta in 1959. He was the son of Hector William Grant and Annie Kydd Grant (née Mitchel). Leonard was employed for several years as a jeweler by OB Allan in Vancouver, BC before joining the RCMP. He joined the RCMP in 1953 and was stationed in Ontario, PEI, and the Northwest Territories before finally coming to Alberta, retiring after 35 years of service.

Leonard married Anne Konelsky in 1961 and together they raised two daughters and two sons. He was a member of the Senior’s Outdoor Club of Calgary for over thirty years and was a Trail Master for the club for six years.  Leonard had a passion for the outdoors and physical activity. He was snowshoeing and riding his bicycle past the age of 87 years. His neighbors and friends will remember him for his good humour and pleasant nature.

Leonard is survived by his two daughters, Barbara Clow and Carol Anderson of Calgary, AB; and one son, James Grant of Calgary, AB. Leonard and Anne have eleven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren who are located across Alberta and British Columbia. Leonard was predeceased by his wife Anne Grant, his son Kurt Grant, his grandson Alexander Kounadis, and his sister Bernice Muir.

A Memorial Service will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Park Memorial, 5008 Elbow Drive SW, Calgary, AB) on Friday, July 22, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home. Condolences, memories, and photos can also be shared and viewed here.
