Obituary of Brian Leslie Churchill
July 24, 1949 – St John's, Newfoundland
June 20, 2022 – Calgary, Alberta
Brian Leslie Churchill passed away suddenly in Calgary, AB, on Monday, June 20, 2022, at the age of 72, surrounded by his loving, devoted family.
Brian drove an eighteen-wheeler for 40+ years for LeDrew’s Express, Highland Transport, Maritime Ontario, Southwestern Express and Bison Transport. As an owner and operator, Brian was well respected and often assisted others. He worked and travelled all over Canada and the USA, touching many hearts, loved and cherished by many.
Living in Calgary, Dad developed a love for the Calgary Flames. Over the past six years, he has met several of the Flames players, but his most proud moment was when he met Lanny McDonald, and especially when Lanny called to check in and then of course he had his “Churchill Cry”.
Brian leaves to mourn with broken hearts and with many memories, his wife of 53 years, Sandra (nee Knight), daughter Tanya Miller and her husband Phillip; granddaughter Victoria (Tony), son Brian and grandsons Brian and Tyler; his brother George (Maxine), and sister Jocelyn Miller (Roger), in-laws Josephine Churchill, Margaret Churchill, Margie Churchill, Shirley Elliott (John), Herb Knight, Brenda Mosher (Wayne); as well as his many nieces and nephews, and family and friends from all over Newfoundland, Ontario and Alberta. Brian was predeceased by his parents Reginald and Annie (nee Dyke) Churchill; his in-laws Herbert and Alice (nee Murphy) Knight; as well his siblings Wallace, Cyril, Sylvia, and Lionel.
A Celebration of Brian’s Life will be held at McInnis and Holloway (Eastside Memorial Chapel, 5388 Memorial Drive NE, Calgary, AB) on Friday June 24, 2022, at 4:00 pm.
As per Brian’s final wishes, he will be cremated and will be returned to his beloved Newfoundland.
