Obituary of Lisa Jennifer Jane Rowan

Our kind and gentle Lisa Rowan passed away on Thursday, June 23, 2022. She was a loving daughter, sister, and auntie, she will be missed very much by her family.

 

Lisa was born in Calgary, she grew up in the southwest community of Lakeview, where she took part in community activities and had many friends. Lisa enjoyed the annual family vacation at the Naramata Centre in Naramata, BC, where she renewed friendships each year and made new ones. Lisa attended local schools, graduating from Central Memorial High School in 1992. She attended Mount Royal College (University) and obtained a Diploma in Social Work, she then attended the University of Calgary and graduated with a Bachelor of Social Work. She worked for several years at the Calgary Association of Self Help and then for the Government of Alberta.

 

When illness prevented Lisa from working, she volunteered at several organizations. Among them were Inn from the Cold, The Mustard Seed, and Children’s Literacy Programs.

 

People who met Lisa were often inspired to do an act of kindness for her or to pay an act of kindness forward to someone else.

 

Lisa will be lovingly remembered by her mother Arlene Rowan; two brothers, Steve Rowan and Lynn, and Robert Rowan and Michele; sister, Linda Rowan and Scott; two nieces, Ashley Ireland and Kasey, and Chelsea Rowan and Chev; and nephew, Scott Rowan. Lisa is also survived by great-nieces and nephews, and relatives in British Columbia. Lisa was predeceased by her father David Rowan; grandparents, Alice and Bill Phillips, and Fredrick and Emma Rowan; and nephew, David Rowan.

 

A Celebration of Life will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Park Memorial, 5008 Elbow Drive SW, Calgary, AB) on Tuesday, July 12, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home. Condolences, memories, and photos can also be shared and viewed here.

 

The family would like to thank the staff at Swan Evergreen Village, Chinook Care Centre, and Chinook Hospice, for their kindness and care for Lisa. They would also like to thank the people who visited her.
