Obituary of James Laurence Brough
March 28, 1950 - June 25, 2022
Laurie Brough passed away on Saturday, June 25, 2022, at the age of 72 years.
Laurie Brough was born outside Dayton, Ohio on March 28, 1950, to his parents, Jim and Mary Brough. At a very young age, Laurie, his brother Don, and their parents moved back to Ontario. Laurie moved West in the late 1970’s. He called Calgary home for the majority of his life. Skiing, music, photography and exploring nature were his favourite hobbies. He was such an accomplished skier that he became part of the Canadian National Ski team. Laurie spent a lot of his later years giving back to AA through active participation, sponsorship and donation. Laurie was a very accomplished geologist, with a degree from Guelph University. His career took him from Eastern Africa to South America, to the great depths of the Atlantic Ocean. Laurie also had many adventures in his RV, which included driving across Canada and the United States. He was a loving grandparent to Aidan, Hunter, and Macey.
Laurie is survived by his partner, Nancy Kloster; children, Christina (Alan) Roberts and Todd (Erin) Brough; grandchildren, Aidan, Hunter, and Macey, as well as his brother Donald Brough. He was predeceased by his parents, Jim and Mary Brough.
