Obituary of Kenneth Jules Heemeryck

March 14, 1949 – Rocky Mountain House, Alberta

June 26, 2022 – Calgary, Alberta

Ken, beloved husband of Barbara, went into the arms of his loving Saviour on Sunday, June 26, 2022.

Ken was born in Rocky Mountain House on March 14, 1949, to George and Mary Heemeryck and grew up in Red Deer.  He had three brothers and one sister.

Ken went to NAIT and received his forestry diploma and worked his way up in a variety of jobs, including that of a wellsite construction superintendent.

He and Barbara met in 1990 while they were both working for PanCanadian Petroleum, and they married the following year.

Ken loved the outdoors, especially hunting with his friends, and they tried to go at least twice a year.

Ken came to faith in Jesus Christ in 2001 and put his trust with Him ever since.  He volunteered with Centre Street Church for a number of years as a divorce recovery facilitator and had a heart for helping those in marriage breakdown.

Ken worked for numerous Oil & Gas companies over the years and decided to retire in 2013.  In 2014, he and Barbara moved to Summerland, BC where they enjoyed life in the Okanagan.  They decided to come back to Calgary in October 2021 in order to be closer to family and friends.

Ken is survived by his loving wife and best friend Barbara of 30 years, his children Ken, Jr (Melanie), Paul (Barb), and Angela Dickson (Ryan); and six grandchildren Talia, Grace, Jimmy, Kenny, Ryla, and Jesse.  He is also survived by his brothers George, Barrie (Bev) and one sister Marlene Dow (Dave) along with numerous nieces and nephews.  He also leaves his little feline companion Indigo whom he cherished.

A memorial service for Ken may be held at a later date.
