Obituary of Norman Robert Whelpdale

December 1, 1941 – Toronto, Ontario

June 28, 2022 – Calgary, Alberta

Norman Whelpdale of Calgary, AB, passed away on Tuesday, June 28, 2022, at the age of 80 years.

Norman was born in Toronto, ON, and lived in numerous places in Canada, from Ontario to British Columbia, retiring in San Juan Cosala, Mexico.

Dad was a terrific handyman and always willing to pick up a hammer to help family and friends. He loved photography and even set up his own studio and darkroom at home. However, his greatest love was his dancing! He got into ballroom dancing, competing for fun and of course meeting many lovely dance partners.

Employed by Nortel, he was always willing to try out a new opportunity in a new city or foreign country, including Africa (Nigeria) and China, as well as the Caribbean. He finally landed in Mexico, where he spent many wonderful years. He was a volunteer and board member of the Lakeside Little Theatre in Ajijic.

He will be missed most for his dry sense of humour, keeping that up right till the end.

Norman is survived by daughters, Margaret, and Linda Duncan, his son Keith (Jackie Warbeck), six grandchildren, and two great grandchildren; as well as his cousins, nieces, nephews, and many friends.
