Obituary of John Keogh

May 14, 1933 – Glasgow, Scotland

July 5, 2022 - Calgary, Alberta

 

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dad, grandad, and great-grandad, John Keogh on Tuesday, July 5, 2022, at the age of 89 years.

 

John was born in Glasgow, Scotland on May 14, 1933. On July 17, 1953, he married his beloved wife Mary (nee Murray). On October 7, 1972, John, Mary and their three children immigrated to Canada and settled in Calgary.

 

John completed his Engineering Apprenticeship at Albion Motors in Scotstoun, Glasgow, in October of 1954. He served honorably with the Royal Air Force from November 1954 until December 1956 as a specialist in Armament Mechanics. On his return he worked at the Albion Motors in his trade. He later was an instructor of Mechanical Engineering at Reid Kerr College in Paisley, Scotland. John applied his trade to the oil industry in Calgary.

 

John was a lifetime member of the Masonic Lodge-Shettleston-Saint-John-128, in Glasgow.

 

John is survived by his son James, daughters, Mary (Peter), and Linda (Chip); grandchildren, Kevin, Kyle (Danyelle), Adam (Samantha), Michael (Lexie), Steven, and Eric; great-grandchildren, Paisley, Jackson, Jasper, and Willow; and his companion Camille. John was predeceased by his loving wife Mary in 2008.

 

Funeral Services will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Fish Creek, 14441 Bannister Road SW, Calgary, AB) on Thursday, July 14, 2022, at 2:00 pm. Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home. Family and friends who are unable to attend in person are invited to join Mr. Keogh’s service streamed live (see below) on the day of the service. For those who are unable to view live, a recording of the service will be posted. Condolences, memories, and photos can also be shared and viewed here.
