Obituary of Leonard (Len) John Watt

Len Watt, beloved husband of Inez Watt of Calgary, AB, passed away on Sunday, July 10, 2022 at the age of 94 years.
Len was born in Victoria, British Columbia on March 15, 1928, to Thomas and Alice Violet Watt. Len graduated from UBC in Chemical Engineering – BASc 1950, MASc 1951. He started his career in Shawinigan Falls, QC and transferred to North Bay, ON where he met Inez. They married in 1958.
In 1962, Len joined Imperial Oil in Calgary, AB in the early stages of computing. Len and Inez moved several times between Calgary and Toronto with their children Alison and Jeffrey. Their final move was in 1979 back to Calgary. Len retired in 1986 and enjoyed many happy vacations and cruises with Inez. He was an avid volunteer – Len and Inez travelled to China and then Czechoslovakia on CESO assignments. Len was a Volunteer Director with the 1988 Winter Olympics and volunteered doing tax returns at the Kirby Centre for many years.
Len accomplished much through his life and was particularly proud of his family. Len enjoyed hiking in the mountains with the Esso Annuitants Club and was active in the planning for several years. He was especially proud to take his grandchildren along each summer on one of the hikes.
Besides his loving wife Inez, Len is survived by his daughter, Alison (Larry) Boyd of Calgary, AB; son, Jeffrey (Gwen) Watt of Palo Alto, California; and five grandchildren, Sean Boyd, Erin Boyd, Trevor Boyd, Amy Watt and Lauren Watt. Len was predeceased by his sister, Frances Roberts and his granddaughter, Laura Boyd.
A Gathering with family and friends will be held in the Hospitality Centre at McInnis & Holloway (Park Memorial, 5008 Elbow Drive SW, Calgary, AB) on Thursday, July 28, 2022 at 2:30 pm. Condolences, memories, and photos can also be shared and viewed here.
