Obituary of Janice Arlene Gerbrandt

July 18, 2022 – Strathmore, Alberta
Janice Gerbrandt, of Strathmore, AB, passed away on Monday, July 18, 2022, at the age of 75 years.
Janice was born and raised in Calgary, AB, on October 30, 1946. She graduated with her grade 12 diploma from Western Canada High School in Calgary, AB, in the spring of 1965. Shortly after graduating, she married the love of her life, Peter Gerbrandt, on June 17, 1967.
Janice enjoyed sewing, painting, needlework, camping, and even playing the guitar by the fire singing a few verses of Green Alligators and Long Neck Geese! She volunteered for the Marlborough Community Association where she helped with fundraisers, community dances, and bingo. Most of all she loved hockey! She received great joy in watching her son and grandson. She volunteered many years with the Calgary Canucks Junior “A” hockey team with Peter and her best friend Judy Pennoyer. Later in life, she became an avid Strathmore Wheatland Kings Junior “B” SUPER fan!
Janice is survived by her daughter Shelly (Dennis) Stewart, her son Derek (Wendy) Gerbrandt, and her 3 beautiful grandchildren, Jayda Stewart, Julie-ann, and Dylan Gerbrandt.
She is also survived by her brother Colin (Gina) Sugden, as well as numerous brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Janice was predeceased by her loving husband Peter, her sister Gerry, and her parents Lorne and Ruth Sugden.
Funeral Services will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Chapel of The Bells, 2720 Centre Street North, Calgary, AB), on Thursday, August 11, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home. Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared and viewed here.
