Obituary of Ronald Francis King

August 7, 1945 – Saskatoon, Saskatchewan

August 4, 2022 – Calgary, Alberta

Ronald King, beloved husband of Katherine King (nee Stromsmoe) of Calgary, AB, passed away on Thursday, August 4, 2022, at the age of 76 years.

Ron was born in Saskatoon, Sask and raised in Hanley, Sask. He joined the Royal Bank and worked in several locations in Saskatchewan before being transferred to Alberta. He met his wife of 54 years in Foremost, AB. Over the years they moved to a variety of locations throughout Alberta and also Kelowna B.C. Ron finished his career with ATB in Calgary and took early retirement due to health issues in 1997. Ron then volunteered with CRHA Home Care, Hull Home, Special Olympics, and the Calgary Flames. He was a dedicated supporter of the Flames and Saskatchewan Roughriders. Ron was also an avid golfer and curler.

Ron, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother is survived by his loving wife Katherine, daughter Marnie Bailey (Shaun), son Shane (Tanya Ward) and granddaughters Isabella Bailey, Madelyn, Finley and Charlotte King. He is also survived by sisters Anne Campbell and Leona King; brothers Ray and Rick (Barb); and sisters-in-law, Marilyn King, Barbara King, Marcia Stromsmoe, and Maxine Stromsmoe; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Ron was predeceased by his sister Pat, brother Ken and parents Joe and Rose King.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church (1600 Acadia Dr SE, Calgary, AB) on August 12, 2022, at 11:00am. Reception to follow. Family and friends who are unable to attend in person are invited to join Ron's service streamed live (see below) on the day of the service.
